It’s a New Dawn
¶ 1
Leave a comment on verse 1 0
When a football club is in decline
And slowly sinking in the mire
Steadily heading towards relegation
With football that’s just dire
¶ 2

When you have an owner with no interest
And a coach without a plan
The players just trot out onto the field
And do the best they can
¶ 3
Leave a comment on verse 3 0
Things go into a downward spiral
As the crowds start to fall away
And so cheered on by only the faithful few
The players lose the heart to play
¶ 4

Now that owner is a distant memory
And the Head Coach he’s been fired
Our new coach is so charismatic
He has the whole team truly inspired
¶ 5

With the fourth richest owners in the country
Not afraid to spend a pound or two
And a scout who casts his net far and wide
This ship has a very different crew

Before the transfer window
We were promised between five and eight
And with that sort of expectation
The fans could hardly wait
¶ 7

By the time the window finally closed
Eight new players were through the door
And with another five in on loan
We couldn’t have asked for more
¶ 8

This is the dawning of a new era
So let the Wolves be again unleashed
And let’s be thankful that last season’s football
Is well and truly deceased.

I was lucky enough to see the mighty Wolves in the early 60s at the Bridge… Wright Broadbent Williams et al..
