miserable millionaires

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Adrenalin pumping getting there,
It is (undoubtedly) tough at the top.
But there’s no atmosphere,
As Edmund Hilary would have told you.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But it’s tougher at the bottom
Where most of us spend reality.
My dad always said
There are worse things in life
Than being slightly uncertain
About where your next sixty grand
Is coming from.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Worse things even, than being
Overlooked from the close
Season tour. Much, much worse
Than suffering a bit of mild abuse
When you choose to play
In an alice band or go
Clubbing in a kilt.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Even if you are panned by a red-top
Accused of affairs,
Befriended by no-hopers,
In late night bars,
I’d still exchange you that
For the mind-numbingly tedious
Business of real life.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 At the top though (ask Tensing)
You can lose perspective,
Forget discipline, which is why
Most climbers are killed on the way down.
