A wet view out the window,
While he’s making a no show,
Shall I sit on the boss’s chair?,
No way, I wouldn’t dare!

What’s that chant I hear?,
Someone’s a year older I fear!,
As an apprentice separating boot from dirt,
I enjoyed similar innocent mirth.

I’m nervous so I’ll go for a walk,
Perhaps the groundsman will stop for a talk,
I wish my life wasn’t so insane,
I want it to be simple, more mundane.

I see the gaffer coming, I’ll turn back so,
On my new improved contract the ink will soon flow.
