but thrive on Cup tie thrills
¶ 2

to be completely honest
the magic name of Nottingham

but on the New Lawn’s lofty pitch
this little Cotswold team
like Nailsworth’s famous poet tramp*
can stand awhile and dream
¶ 4

as now into that third round hat

¶ 5

but while we can we’ll raise the flag
and get out all the bunting
move over farmer’s markets*
your polo* and your hunting*
¶ 6

move over Charles* and Sade*
Keith Allen* move on too
and Jilly Cooper step aside*

¶ 7

we’ carved their name in history
a century we’ve tried
among the cottages and sheep
our humble little side
¶ 8

move over Football Poets*
move over hippy Stroud*
we’re Forest Green and we still dream
our team have stood us proud.
