he made us invincible, before wages ruled
what price for this striker, in the World Cup today
The Mighty Jock Dodds, scoring home and away

we were top of the first, and we’d won every game
for Blackpool and Scotland, the play still went on
the Mighty Jock Dodds, like a diamond he shone

the record books show, there’s no one surpassed
a hatrick at Hampden, with the Saltire unfurled
The Mighty Jock Dodds, was king of the world

shining through time, if our hero was here
The Mighty Jock Dodds, would be Player of the Year
