They say it’s lost it’s sparkle
And it’s not like it used to be
When the Davids fought the Goliaths
In the quest to get to Wembley.

Even for a credit crunch and recession
The attendances were a bit low
But the “lowly” still found the money
Such as the fans of Southend and Barrow.

So to some the magic is still there
It can still be a great day out
And with icy winds and dodgy pitches
The minnows are always in with a shout.

“The greatest cup competition in the world”
A statement we should still be proud about
So let’s not ever get rid of this tradition
Let’s not spoil the smaller clubs dreams we shout.
