Three Lamps

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 a hat-trick of penalties
all struck good and true
winning the mind games
in the battle of Green v Blue

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 a hat-trick of penalties
but only one actually counted
ice coolness personified
and the stress surmounted

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 for the eagle eyed ref
twice spots those encroaching
so Frank under pressure
but his nerve needs no reproaching

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Lampard is jeered unmercilessly
on his each and every return
but they never put him off
so when will they ever learn?

Notes

kudos to our Frank, who is constantly jeered on his every return to Upton Park.

20/12/2009
West Ham 1 Chelsea 1
A golden chance spurned by Chelsea to put a six point gap between ourselves and Man U going into Christmas.
But we couldn’t begrudge the points, seeing as it helps out our old favourites Gianfranco Zola and Steve Clarke.

Green v Blue?
Robert Green in goal for West Ham.

The 2nd occasion was certainly ridiculous, about a dozen players inside the box before Frank struck the ball.

In my humble opinion, although it’s good to see a ref actually getting tough on encroachment, I personally thought it was West Ham players who started it!

I’d be more impressed though if the linesmen got tougher – just recently a lot of keepers are saving penalties by stepping forward off the line before the ball is kicked – and that is outlawed.

Frank was denied in just such circumstances by Shay Given recently, which cost us a vital two points.
