To Buy A Ticket For That Ride.

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Such a day will always stay forever in your mind
Like when Bobby Moore on shoulders soared with golden chalice so devine
You witnessed it, you saw it, with your very own pair of eyes
But what you saw is now folklore for the new fans to imbibe

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 A goal, a save, the woodwork shaved, a pass, a move sublime
All of it is yours alone to savour, it shall be for some time
Did it move you like a haunting song or a poignant piece of verse
Did it touch your soul that one great goal, or that miss that made it worse?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Were you up in the Gods with the other poor sods as your captain took that kick
Or on your way to Hades, when your striker made that miss
Your raging heart a row did start with that wise thing that’s your head
One is right and one just might have words that should be said

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The things we say in the throes of play that make no sense at all
When fans nearby correct us, we try to act so cool
This intensity makes no sense to me, I cannot work it out
Its still burning there like a love affair that’s embers won’t die out

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 But after years and years the joy, the tears of following me side
I still turn up every other Saturday with great hope and expectation
To buy a ticket for that ride!

Notes

This is so very obviously meant to be a reminder of a time when all our games were only ever played on a Saturday and maybe a Wednesday night!

Oh, and of course when Chelsea played Man Yoo at The Bridge on a Friday night in front of I think 72.ooo and George Best was sent off for fighting with either Willie Morgan or John Fitzpatrick either one of whom were supposed to be team mates of his!

peace.

kev.
