In the summer it runs rife
Nods, winks, hints and rumours
It’s part of football life

It certainly seems that way
With so many links to midfielders
There’s a new one every day.

Yesterday it was Wood
We need to bust the budget
And sign somebody good.

I’m sure I heard that news
But now I see he’s upped and gone
His contract’s now with Blues.

I hear a second bid’s afoot
Then the Gaffer says: No that’s wrong
McDonald’s staying put.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Perhaps we’ll try again for Bamford
A striker in his prime
And though we’ve tried and failed before
He’s sure to come this time.

That’s his usual way
“He’s not a player on our radar”
Then he’s signed the very next day.

But he’s the one we want to keep
So you better be talking eight figures
‘cause he’s not coming cheap.

And as the season’s getting nearer
The clubs get a bit more desperate
And players just get dearer.

I hate this time of year. The fans know we need 5 new players. The Gaffer knows we need 5 new players. So just get on with and get them signed! Roll on August 8th!
