WC 2006 : Day 13

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 From gloomy sunrise, to an invisible sunset
On the longest day of the year (even in Germany
it turned out wet)
I was eagerly anticipating, the most mouth watering
group tie yet
When Holland and Argentina, go tête à tête
The South Americans, my pre-tournament bet
Sadly unwagered, so even if they do win,
I’ll still wallow in debt
Unfortunately, it turned out to be a damp squib of a match,
one to forget
Unlike the other group C game, when Serbia & Montenegro
& the Ivory Coast met
Sparks flew (while the others drew), this was much better fayre
for our tv set
Tons of passion, but only pride at stake, now home they jet
There’d been simulation aplenty, whereas the two heavyweights
could hardly raise a sweat
No Robben, no swallow dives, van the man stayed on his fetlocks,
so no need for a vet
A real stalemate, with no-one hitting the back of the net
What’s that? A consolation cuppa? Ah, thanks pet
Any chance of a biscuit? Would you go and get ….
Thought not. Wanna know the score? Oh … I see …
and so said Rhett
In which case, wanna watch the film on the other side, you know,
the one starring Roseanne Arquette?
