leave us as jumpy as – wives crossed

is a premise understood;
but to what extent
to keep foes apart? – here’s another that they should

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Remember, remember
that last qualifier’s infraction?
oui, ‘Le Main de Frog’
so please keep us apart – for want of an Henry retraction

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A political football
that left such a nasty taste;
when ‘Fair Play’ went out the window –
so pairing us – would be nigh on exposing toxic waste

27/7/2011, just 3 days before the draw for the World Cup 2014 European qualifying group draw:

Fifa has decided, due to “delicate political situations,” that Russia and Georgia will not be drawn in the same group, and nor will Armenia and Azerbaijan.

On a lighter note:
is this the world’s first 2014 World Cup poem? 😉
