Cometh the hour, cometh the man: The Sheriff

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 When 2 games in 4 days
turns a Nation inside out
where previously thought to be
completely down and out

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But let’s all Parrot a certain phrase:
it ain’t over until the Fat Lady sings
although in this case, make that…
until “The Sheriff” kindly brings…..
HAT-TRICK! Schmatrick!

Notes

16/11/2025
Last round of group matches to qualify from Europe, for World Cup 2026.
Ireland had a poor campaign, but still had an outside chance…
Portugal won earlier today.
So 2nd place up for grabs, all hinged on
Hungary vs Ireland

Hungary only needed to draw.
Ireland had to win.
After 3 mins, Hungary one up.
Ireland equalise.
Just before half time, Hungary lead 2-1.

With 10 mins to go, Hungary still lead 2-1 . Szobozolai is bossing the game.
Then a great through ball, Troy Parrot nets his 2nd . Then unbelievably, with the last second of the game, keeper Kelleher pumps the ball forward from the half way line, Scales (immense) flicks on with a towering header and Parrot poaches his hat trick. Bedlam in Ireland
Watch Troy’s post match interview. it is probably the most sincere and tear jerking football interview ever given.
Troy proudly hails from an inner city area of Dublin called Sheriff Street, hence the poem title.

Ireland still have to navigate a World Cup playoff qualifer semi final in March, hopefully followed by a WC qualifier final.
