Aristocrats of subtlety and touch.
But for me, one side eclipsed them as the World Cup Finals cream –

Nurtured from an early age, the kids grew into men,
Competing on the highest stage as such.
The awe-inspiring football lies beyond today’s kids’ ken –
They’ve never seen a team quite like the Dutch.

The scope of total football really blew our minds away,
We’d never seen the ball sprayed round so much.
They brought their team to Wembley and put on a great display,
With poor England quite bamboozled by the Dutch.

The Germans staged a most unlikely putsch.
The football played so fluently made many juices flow,
And no-one did it better than the Dutch.
