Oh where is he now, that guy from Zaire,
Who wrought from the world a unanimous cheer,
When he ran from the wall in a game ‘gainst Brazil,
And then booted the ball ‘ere the whistle blew shrill?

Do his grandchildren come, full of laughter and gladness?
Does he tell them the tale of his moment of madness?
“But why did you do it, dear Grandad?” they’d cry,
Wiping the laughter-born tears from their eye,
To which, I must doubt there’d be any reply.
