Super Eagles

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Oh super eagles, still unbowed,
You had the population gripped.
The tension filtered through the crowd,
Uncertain if your halo’d slipped.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Your play now dull and nondescript,
You perch no longer on a cloud,
But though your wings were nearly clipped.
With pride you screeched your name aloud.

Notes

In danger of exiting the African Nations Cup at the group stages for the first time since Adam was a boy, Nigeria pulled out the stops with a tense win over Benin and scraped through.
