in the pouring rain
and my thumb still purple and swollen
from last weeks misadventures

the Arsenal game,
not sacrificing my team
to play
for my team.

stuffed
hammered
every goal hurts
and I shouldn’t even be here
to suffer it.

“awesome game, kid”
“you made some great saves”
“you’re a fantastic keeper”

“could have been fifty –
they beat a team last week 22-4
don’t beat yourself up about this”
