first the sceptical, bordering-on-misogynist,
‘this will be easy’ amusement.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Next comes the panic,
the gradual realization that they
cannot score.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 So they up their game
and generally still can’t score
and so comes the next stage

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Resentment. Pure resentment
borne of false humiliation –

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Then, at last, as the whistle blows

Notes

Having recently joined a new 5-a-side team in which all my team mates, and every other player in the league, is male, I find this to be a recurring pattern with the opposition.

Still, we’re yet to lose, and have conceded 4 in our last 6 games (which would be gutting in 11-a-side, but 5s is high scoring isn’t it?)

TOP OF THE LEAGUE!
