The Devil is a Rugby Fan
¶ 1

The Devil came down to Stockport
He was looking to cause some harm
He worked his evil on Edgeley Park,
Some of its people, and also Manor Farm

He got good people to turn a blind eye
Then the bad ones to cause frustration
And by squeezing the finances tightly
Forced the club into administration

He then got his brother Leonard
To sit in the biggest chair
His role was to cause as much heartache
To all that were once welcome there

Big Len takes great pride in his position
He really likes to cause some hurt
Not only sacking our ‘hero’ manager
But treating the club’s supporters like dirt

He never gives out information
He’s sold good players out on the cheap
He’s making himself a small fortune
As the club slide into mire quite deep

He accepted a takeover bid from Me Loser
This was apparently the best one received
But the stories told by plenty of others
Mean we’re not sure who we should’ve believed

The devil’s little brother had also made inroads
He had bought the ground for his mates the ‘fish’
He wanted a pitch unfit for football
And very soon he was granted his wish
¶ 8

He told the press and anyone else who would listen
That he wanted what’s best for both ‘codes’
But as you can see on the pitch down at Edgeley
There’s been sand delivered in truck loads
¶ 9

The Devil has always loved rugby
That’s where he’s shown his complete lack of class
Whilst his game can be played in a sandpit
God’s game is best played on grass

And as one ‘deadline day’ passes another
Our supporters have ‘battle fatigue’
Will our club become another statistic?
And will it stay in the Football League?

We just want our town’s team to play football
And an end to the Devil and his squad
But perhaps the only way for this to happen
Is for us to all pray on our knees to GOD!!!
