We Don’t Want What We Think We Want

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 We don’t need the lycra undergarments
Gloves, hats or rainbow boots
We need centrebacks who can defend
With strikers programmed to shoot

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We want goals, especially winning goals
With the odd bum-clenching world class save
We want three more points upon the board
We want the super subs to give us a wave

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 We want a manager who talks good sense
One who watches the same game as us
His tactics are praised and understood
The right team selection makes the bus

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We want to win and be entertained
Each home game with a capacity crowd
To have a season of basic joy
Where optimism is allowed

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Others think we’re in a poor position
The third tier that is League One
You can keep the Prem and Championship
This league is far more fun

Notes

We are Norwich, Super Norwich, Super Norwich, Carrow Road.

Oh its good to see goals at last – stetsons full – and weirdly expecting to win most games. We’re Gonna Win the League and even I’d better believe it. (I hope my next poem isn’t entitled Dips, Slips and Massive Blips). For anyone wondering what’s so exciting about the possibiity of winning League One – it’s only League One – I can only say that a well prepared Shepherds Pie tastes much better than a badly handled fillet steak!
I know that our £23 million debt will capsize us unless we can pan for Premier League gold but this season it’s about the football. I know it all comes down to filthy lucre in the end but with the money has come all the things that have spoiled our game. A good few of our beloved clubs are not going to survive the meddling of the money men and that
makes me sad.
