Crisp, incisive passing to
unlock a stubborn rearguard?
Not England.
Pressing game to stop
the opposition playing?
Not England.
Penetration in the
final third of the pitch?
Not England.
Goal threat from
clever, hungry strikers?
Not England.

Disjointed midfield that
constantly passes backwards.
Players that permit the opposition
time on the ball.
Toothless strikers who run
down blind alleys and
straight into their
opponent’s hands.

It gets worse.
Inflexible manager who
thinks 4-4-2
is the way forward
with the best player
stuck out on the left.
A manager as clueless
as Clouseau-like Domenech
who can’t change tactics
because he doesn’t know how to.
A manager who is quite literally
lost for words.

And what of Rooney’s little outburst?
Stardom gone to your head, Wayne?
Though clearly not to your feet
as you couldn’t trap a bag of cement.
It was probably that new ball
….or something.
