Spare a thought for the fourth official
Who puts up with all of the hassle
He gets it everywhere he goes
From Rochdale to Newcastle.
He just has to grin and bear it
Manager’s forever on his case
Be it Wenger, McCarthy, or Ferguson
Up close and right in his face.
Moaning about one thing or another
Bad tackles or too much extra time
Sticking up for his mate in the middle
Now is that too much of a crime.
He tries very hard to be patient
With abuse being hurled from each side
So spare a thought for the fourth official
Because for him there is no place to hide.
