Legends

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The dead used to be
people I had only met in photographs
Sunday hats and Sunday baths

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Now the dead are men I recall
admired faces on football cards
lined up by teams in our back yard

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Now they have daisies for stars
No more autographs to sign
But still taking corners in our minds

Notes

I am too young to remember Nat Lofthouse in his playing days but know of his status as a footballing giant. My generation can recall the likes of Emlyn Hughes, Alan Ball and Bobby Moore and know that our love of the game has solid roots.
