Surprised? I Dont Think So!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Us disciples are somewhat embarrassed
On hearing the just breaking news
The once lauded, labelled Judas Iscariot
Not fit to lace so and so’s boots?

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The mid-day editions have run the admission
“I’ve followed this club all my life”
Geezer’s having a laugh, must think we’re all daft?
He’s been quoted with that at least thrice.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 A private jet purrs on the tarmac
On standby to whisk him away
To sign, well in time for next weeks home match
Where us punters will dole out his pay.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Stadia will thrive come a match day
When us fools, and our hard earned part ways
As he runs out to play, your programme will say:
“What a wonderful signing we’ve made”.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The dejected left somewhat pensive
As worthless shirts bearing his name
Are put out in the trash with the empties
So all trace of the pains cast away.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Thousands of new shirts will be ordered
For kids and flush punters to buy
And in all my time as a loyal supporter
I’ve not seen J.Iscariot show his moniker on Sky.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 We’ll love him, they’ll loathe him
S’how this football lark goes
To us faithful it still don’t make it right
When the market goes up or on maybe a whim
He’ll come and ask us for more dough
Then be off down the road on his bike!

Notes

Writing this, I’ve still not obtained the full SP (starting price) on whether Fernando Torres has signed for us (Chelsea) or not, and to be honest I don’t really care. This is not about Torres, but our game on the whole.

As the poem suggests who-ever may sign for us before or after the transfer deadline will off up / down the road, as soon as another suitor shows up and offers him more dough than we can.

I’ve also to my chagrin found that over the years as a supporter, where money is concerned nothing should ever surprise one, once you come to accept that, you can get on with enjoying the game and whoever may be playing for your team while it and they last!

Cynical? Yeah and so what?

Peace.

Kev.
