Messi – The Little Maestro

Messi plays football no strings attached
His tricks Hundreds & Thousands scattered
Sky bound aerial acrobats
Black arrows dive bombing
Breach traffic lights mock hidden lenses
Dart left then right cut strips of sky
Spitfire plumage switchblade flick knives
Ribbons slicing splice the air

High wire dancing trapeze flung
Into net-less skies catching throwing
Tossing wing flips and tips primed
Wind blown flicking targets
Beak pecked clouds speckled bruised
Playful perfectly formed shapes
Rise from nowhere chase tomcat prowlers
Flock rooftop roller-coasters

Trees dizzy shaken empty
Songs from hungry bellies lose
Their voices hollow nests abandoned
Feathered harriers choke noisy traffic
Cloak human chaos caught by cameras
Stony faces set in angry queues
Lifeless statues stuck in dark jams

Ticket touts sell wares and tears
Kids in replica shirts copy nike moves
Neon lit and street kerbs unscuffed
Grass grows in silence whilst itchy thumbs
Push PS3 and history sneers…
The past alive in Barca’s dreams
Garrincha Andrade Menezes pull on boots
Laced up, once more Neruda sighs

A symphony of clicks and whistles
A bird wave plunges “Look! No hands!”
Flapping wildly ruffled violins
Little needles furiously threading tapestries
Before the slow black curtain falls
Spread eagled dark molasses
Angels pushed off perches as pinpoint pilots
Pick through the eye of God
Pulling rip cords cut umbilical, and life?
Messi like Mozart plays no strings attached.
