and fawn over the fearless….
but it’s Pirlo
who’s peerless

they’re everywhere
every headline
every byeline
every quip
joined at the hip
and clichéd to death

aye, for we can argue that
but for him
we might
just might
ourselves
have managed to snatch victory
from the jaws of (a well deserved) defeat?
