Those Fullwell End stairs.

I feel sorry for Sunderland
I honestly do
And my pal Tommy is sorry too
He’s supported his team for 65 years
Since that first day he climbed
Up those Fullwell End stairs.
Often spending money
That he could ill afford
Been through trials and tribulations
And put to the sword.
He’s seen dozens of managers
All come and go, the odd one successful
The others less so
And he phoned me last night
Straight after the game
He sounded dejected and not quite the same
Yet he talked of his hero’s
Hurley, Shackelton, and Clough
And now in his Seventies, says he’s had quite enough
Yet another relegation, and you can bet he still cares
This young boy who climbed those Fullwell end stairs.
