Phew!
Last minute reprieve
So now we can still believe;
The Welsh Dragon slain
We put down Gawain
Not convincingly, but tis done
And ‘twas more arduous, than fun
But we should advance
To the next round and perchance
If we improve
Find a groove
Make the Quarters
So Albion’s sons and daughters
Can cheer some more
But first we have to b****y score!

Is that a good omen for tonight?
Two magpies out on the lawn
as I draw back the curtains
and the day draws in the last of the group matches

but then a third avian Geordie joins in the thievery
(they’re fighting each other over some
sugar-laced litter left by unctuous teens)
so what does this late arrival mean?
That Eniola Aluko will have another stormer on the panel?
Will it bode well for Ireland?
Where Stephanie Roche is doing likewise
(remember Messi & Ronaldo salivating
at the Goal of the Year awards – where
Stef should surely have won!)
