Titles

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Lately, I’ve been thinking about titles,
The kind that are bestowed
Or that we give ourselves,
And how much store we set by them.
Lord So and So, the Keeper of the Rolls
Will look the same when six foot under
As you or I. The Area Manager
Who’s fought and clawed his way to the top
Presents himself at the Gates of Heaven
In the same state as his lowliest employee.
So perhaps we’re best not to worry too much
About things we can’t take with us. Paul Ince
When at Man U, liked to call himself ‘The Guv’nor’
Which drew a suitably pithy response
From Sir Alex, who wears his title with humility.
