Euro 2024, Q-F: Doom Loop

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Pre-match…
our hopes were muted
any overt optimism disputed….
and just like the election
there’s too much circumspection

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 mid-match…
well, our overall play has improved
if only slightly
but dare we say it
we’ve started brightly

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 on 75 mins…
doom, gloom
dominates the room
oh lor, where is our saviour?
where is our Keir Starmer?
then glory be
on comes Cool Palmer!

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 at 90+ mins….
oh, so we’ve equalised
and we go into extra-time
but can we up our game
and approach it in our prime?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Penalties!!….
unfortunately, we’ve been here before
and it’s not generally our forte…

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 then bang, bang, bang, bang, bang
five out five
penalties of unexpected quality
and so now we face the semi-final
in a state of heightened frivolity!!!!!

Notes

England 1-1 Switzerland

England win 5-4 on penalties!
Cool Palmer opens his England account
Followed by:
Bellingham, Saka, Toney, TAA
Jordan Pickford saved the first Swiss penalty, from Mario Akanji

This all followed on from yesterday’s official election results, of a Labour victory under Sir Keir Starmer

I just had to be the first one to rhyme him with our very own (wonderful) Cole Palmer!
