An eclipse of the moon and a terrible storm,
And Hallowe’en nearly upon us.
The Devil assumed his unnatural form –
I was certain that they’d take the honours.

The omens looked back in the week of the game,
I felt from the start we were goners.
The magpie that followed me round was to blame –
I was certain that they’d take the honours.

Doubts about Georgie, and also O’Flynn,
Or were they just trying to con us?
We wanted a draw, but Cork wanted a win –
I was certain that they’d take the honours.

But not for the first time, they proved me quite wrong,
This team without big prima donnas.
And behind the defence, we had Willo on song –
And Shelbourne and Cork shared the honours.
