The Ballad of Billy No Mates

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Even the bullies ignored him
In the classroom, sitting alone.
Nothing to do except study,
Nowhere to go nights, save home.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 With a bagful of GCSEs
And a clutch of strong A level passes
University called out to him
For a first, not second like the masses.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He tried to join in with the students,
But nobody saw him, save one.
A plain looking lass all alone
Her eyes only for him, bar none.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Slowly they moved close together
He bought her a drink for a dare,
Two kindred spirits, just drifting,
It may take them down some path, but where?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Love blossomed for William and Mary,
For such was their birth appellation,
They both now were ignored together,
Educational concatenation.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Post degree careers now called them both,
Accountancy, Law or Whitehall.
It had to be somewhere “backroom”
To avoid the ignoring stares all.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Living together, then marriage
Seemed natural enough for our friends,
And a plan was beginning to form,
Now William wanted revenge.

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Revenge on all those who ignored him,
Revenge for his Mary as well.
So he soon started training and studying,
They would all dance, in time, to his bell.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Years of frustration flew past him
As he trained for revenge. Oh and how!
His plan would soon come to fruition
No further ignoring him now.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Now able to take his revenge,
With Mary as proud as can be,
By his side when he passed his exams and became
A PREMIER LEAGUE REFEREE

Notes

A tongue in cheek piece, as they have to put up with a lot from those overpaid Prima Donae.
