Ray Warburton

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 An Ode to a Hero is what I proclaim
I’m sure we’ll never see his like again
I am proud to say that I saw him play
An essence of which I’ll try to portray

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 He’d never back down or never flinch
Never shy away or give an inch
He’d stick out his chest, stand proud and tall
Some say they’d seen him run through a wall!

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Battered and bruised, he could take a knock
Made out of granite, solid as a rock
Put back together with stitches and twine
When they made this man, they lost the design

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A hitch of the shorts, a clenched fist roar
He cajoles his team-mates to give even more
No quarter he asks and none is given
Have you ever seen a man that was so driven?

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 That man is a mountain, the crowd would roar
With him in defence, they’ll never score
He tackles and heads like a man possessed
In all the Shots history, he’s one of the Best

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 No longer he plays for the Red n Blue
So the fans now say a massive …“Thank You”
Sadly we now bring down the curtain
Saying there only ever be …. “One Ray Warburton”

Notes

Ray Warbrton:- A true professional who will be etched into legendary status at Aldershot despite only being at the club for two and a half seasons making 98 appearances. A true sportsman Ray has returned from the brink so many times in his career after sustaining so many serious injuries. After arriving at the club in the early part of 2003 he provided a timely influence at the heart of the defence in the Ryman Premier League championship season before captaining the side in 54 appearances during our first Conference campaign that concluded at the Britannia Stadium.
