He’ll be our player of the year
But now in spring he’s almost dead

On the wing, a dynamo
In the cold and bereft of sun
Missing his get-up-and-go.

His feet the home of the ball
Now he’s more likely to miss
If he gets a kick at all.

The skill’s within but won’t come out
And no-one finds a key
Still he likes to run about
And we all wait patiently.
