Born To Follow You Blues

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 I was born to follow you
with heart and soul and voice
yes I was born to follow you
and sometimes there’s no choice

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 and some nights I awaken
as if inside some dream
but there’s no use I pay these dues
in chains to my own team –
for I was born to follow
to follow day on day
all born to follow through this life
wherever they may play

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 though many times I wonder
just what else would I do
these Blues I share are with me here
and I’m still followin’ you –
to be there through the nightmare
be there rise or fall
at any time come rain or shine
to be there through it all

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 there when we were laughable
and I was just a child
there with flair without a care
there when we were wild –
there when we were standing
clothes all wet with rain
when we were rough we’d had enough
but still came back again

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 for I was born to follow you
and like the song I’ll be
still wallowing and following
all over land and sea

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 got one foot on the ladder
but when we start to climb
for old or young with ever’y rung
it’s one step at time
with one eye on the future
and one eye on the game
one more chance to scream or dance
like moths before the flame

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 and if this finds you at the top
or struggling to survive
remember well no man can tell
how faith remains alive –
alive in ev’ry season new
awake in every fan
no matter how it’s there somehow
in woman child or man

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 but I was born to follow you
with heart and soul and voice
yes I was born to follow
and sometimes there’s no choice

Notes

meant to be a Blues song..in a kind of a “since my Zola left me.” .type way..á la John Lee Hasslebaink, Muddy Waters, Johnny Terry and Brownie McGhee et al; though unlikely to to lift mmy offerings I fear to James Blunt proportions levels of love or loathe… a bit like Chelsea really ….
