15th June and the scene is set
England and Trinidad and Tobago met
Rooney’s been passed fit today,
The big question is will he play?
The match is off, there’s penalties to see
And yellow cards, one, two, three!
Then Dwight Yorke is down, ref stops play,
Up he gets and then they’re away.
A narrow miss from a Lampard shot,
Yorke takes a corner, what have we got?
A Trinidad and Tobago header just misses goal,
Come on England, this is a wake up call!
Lampard shoots, but it is not to be,
Beckham shoots and Crouch we see.
It’s Trinidad and Tobago’s turn to take a shot at goal,
NO! Robbo misses but Terry saves, Bless my soul!
It’s half time and what is more,
They go off with a goal-less score.
There’s bound to be a pep talk from our man Sven,
To tell them how to score, and when,
Second half begins, the ball gets passed down the line,
And Rooney’s seen warming up on the sideline.
Everyone’s hoping he’ll soon be on,
As the spectators sing another song.
Then Hislop gets a yellow card, for wasting time!
Rooney and Lennon are warming up and look fine.
Trinidad and Tobago have another chance to score,
But our man John Terry saves it once more.
It’s time to make a couple of subs decides Eriksson,
Owen and Carragh come off as Rooney and Lennon go on.
Then Lampard gets a yellow, seems a bit harsh,
But England get on with it and Beckham makes a pass.
To Crouch who scores a goal before it’s too late,
83 minutes and the fans cheer and celebrate!
Then Gerrard hammers a ball straight down the line
And adds to the score, just before time.
Amazing, fantastic, another goal and a two nil score
That’s more like it and England go through to play some more.
