WC 2006 : Day 07

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 For Liam Fox :

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Perhaps she’s too much of a foxy lady
To be Mrs Fox
Or is it another lad from Leeds
Who leads her astray?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Still, the silver lining
Is that you get to see the three Lions play

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 And they didn’t let you down, no
They wedded patience, with grit & determination
To walk up the aisle
Of World Cup qualification

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 And thankfully, Brett Sancho had other things on his mind
When Crouchy climbed

Notes

Two items from the BBC website caught my eye :

One, was the interview with a fan (Liam Fox from Leeds), who stated he should have been getting married today, but was dumped.

The other :
Trinidad & Tobago defender Brent Sancho got his local TV newsreader to ask his girlfriend to marry him live on air during the 2-0 defeat to England.

England laboured to a 2-0 victory. Peter Crouch scored the first in the 80th minute when he beat Brent Sancho at the far post – up until then, Dennis Lawrence had been glued to Crouchy and stifled him.

This match also saw the return to action of one Wayne Rooney, after his much publicised battle against a metatarsal injury.

Thursday 15th June, 2006

Ecuador 3 0 Costa Rica
England 2 0 Trinidad & Tobago
Sweden 1 0 Paraguay
