Smithstone Albion gave to Celtic the talents
a player who hailed from Croy,
from the mining pits to Parkhead’s pitch;
He became a legend for the Bhoys.

My great-grandfather, Myles, would stand and stare
at the Celtic team picked by Willie Maley
and watch a legion of stars that were strong and brave
with the likes of Young, Loney and Hay.

But on April the 16th in 1904
Celtic travelled to Hampden to face their old foes,
2 goals from Speedie, should have guaranteed a Rangers win
But the Scottish Cup Final was introduced to Jimmy Quinn.

Quinn’s first goal was typical of his play
as he charged through tackles making his way,
and unleashed a shot towards the Rangers net
That Watson the goalie had no chance to save.

Before half time Quinn scored again,
As Bobby Muir danced past Drummond & Robertson
He crossed the ball into the Rangers penalty box
For Quinn to hammer home, a goal from 10 yards.

In the 80th minute, heaven could hear the Celtic fans sing
When Hay & Orr combined down the left wing,
A pass was released to the awaiting Jimmy Quinn
As he slid the ball past Watson to give Celtic the win.

Willie Maley, he rose from his grandstand seat
and applauded Quinn for his remarkable feat,
A Cup Final hat-trick was the first to be seen
as Quinn carried the Cup home covered in ribbons of green.
