Do They Know The Time?
¶ 1

Looks to me like there’s a minute or two left
A few are walking out with occasional glances
Back towards the action they’re leaving.
They’ll be home in about fifteen minutes
Hardly long enough for the car to warm up.

To the right I see the away fans
I can count them all in my head.
It’s November tonight, the winter’s coming
My feet are numb and unsteady.
How far have they come anyway?
A day off work and maybe tomorrow too
They won’t know much sleep tonight.

It is Tuesday.
They’re miles from home.
Do they know the time?

It makes sense to me why they’re here
They only do it because they love it
So I wonder if they forget it is Tuesday,
Forget it is night, forget they’re going home
And in a minute or so they’re going to remember
And not regret a thing about it.
