My Dad says when I get older
I will appreciate,
When two people care so much about me
To argue over my fate.

I just don’t understand then
If this statement is right,
When it’s time for the football teams to be picked
I’m always the cause of a fight.

“You have him,” says one captain
To the other one.
“We’re giving him to you as a gift
before the game has begun.”

“We don’t want him.” says the other one.
“He’ll only hinder our team.
Having an extra player, if it’s him,
Won’t be as good as it would seem.”

So an argument then breaks out.
It always is this way.
And the only solution to this problem

I go home and tell my Mum
That I played really well.
She’s so proud of me it will break her heart
If to her the truth I did tell.

Even before a ball is kicked.
That’s what always happens
When you’re the last one picked.

I will never give up.
I still have dreams scoring for Tottenham
Against Arsenal in the FA cup.

That may seem way off now
But I have other dreams.
My first one is at the moment
Being picked for one of my friends teams.
