What a brilliant idea,
Who thought up these new rules,
Playing this new type of game,
With a ball and shirt as tools.

A mixed game of football and rugby,
And an added tug of war,
With shirts you can get to grips with,
Then being wrestled to the floor.

I had never thought of stamping,
or being kicked and sometimes tripped,
Then to add an elbow when it counts,
To thicken someone’s lips.

I’ve played some football and rugby too,
But never both together,
Do you think it might catch on one day,
And then go on for ever?

We’d best make sure everyone knows the rules,
Just to make it all fair play,
So judging can be seen by all,
And they get it right, on the day.
