The Shirt I wore on this wonderful day
Has been through such a titanic battle
Now it is tattered, tattered I say
And somehow it is such a matter.

Possibly because we’ve seen so much
This great shirt and I
We saw the UEFA Cup and such
We saw memories that fade and die.

We saw the Liverbird upon our chest
We saw the Kop roar
We saw Brucie with his spaghetti legs
We saw our dreams soar.

We saw in 2001, a treble winning season
Players coming and going
Fowler joining Leeds
Houllier’s pain and woe.

Now we see a brighter future
We are sure its true
I put my shirt on with pride
I then remember, I have brought two.

The tattered shirt left with memories
Some I long to forget too
We would always remember the stories
And with a new shirt, memories are new.
