Alf Arrowsmith, LFC Champion 1964, RIP

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Turning up at Anfield for a reserves game
with Uncle Bruce in his old Ford Prefect,
we sat in the cold Main Stand and watched

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 as Alf popped the goals in. Arrowsmith in
attack and hard man Tommy Smith defence,
Smith and ‘Smith, so no surprise to see ’em

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 both in the first team, Alf bashing them in
alongside Sir Roger Hunt and Ian St. John in ’64.
In the Charity Shield Match with Man U, I stood

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 in the old Paddock as Alf turned, twisted his leg,
did his cartilage. After, Alf was never the same.
Alf Arrowsmith, Liverpool sharpshooter, RIP.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 Christopher T. George

Notes

“Death of star from Reds ’64 title winners”
Liverpool Echo, May 13, 2005
“ALF ARROWSMITH, who played a key role in Liverpool’s first title success under Bill Shankly, has died. Arrowsmith, aged 62, could not command a regular place in the mid-Sixties Reds side, but scored some vital goals en route to the First Division championship win in 1964.”
