So Rog you think that football verse
Is hardly writ or something worse
That no one pens an ode or two
That’s worth a read from you know who

Come down from academic skies
And breathe the air of terrace pies
The songs and chants pour from the heart
Wrapped up with love and flags and scarves

For every poet that you name
We have our own who go the game
Ballads, cinquains, haikus too
In every colour (even blue!)
