laptop on the coffee table
next to the coffee mug
with the Arsenal crest
just writing, typing
in the middle of the night
in the early morning
flicking thru the
Skysports channels
looking for football
before sliding the DVD in
the last double winning
season DVD

constantly
the players
the coaches
the groundskeepers
living
breathing
the team
daily
the reserves
the youth team
these kids putting on
the shirt
the Arsenal red
for real
not one they paid
fifty quid for
in the Arsenal shop
or bought on holiday
in Turkey or Thailand
for a lot less
these are the chosen
the fortunate few
just being able to
be there
to be

and I still cheer
when Bergkamp
scores that amazing goal
against Newcastle
against Dabidaz
over and over again

snuggle up next to her
under the
tall ceiling
the duvet she bought
from Marks & Sparks
or maybe BHS
and my head
will rest
effortlessly on
the Arsenal cushion
she bought me for
Christmas
and I will dream
of Arsenal

You stay up too late thinking about your favorite team and stuff like this creeps out of your body, down your arms, to your fingers and right into a laptop. I still regret not drinking that coffee when it was still warm.
