And Not Many People Know That…

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Tortoises have long championed football
They’ve always had their names on their back
Admittedly ‘Fred’ and not ‘Ballack’
Painted in leftover white paint
Lovable Fred but speedy he ain’t

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The tortoises go to all the away games
On a specially designed slowcoach
With ventilation so they don’t poach
In their shells
Or create bad smells

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 They don’t require comfort stops or pies
They’re happy with a bowl of lettuce
The food of choice for these go-getters
And they don’t touch the booze
They’d rather close their eyes for a snooze

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 On their day, they can beat the hare
Other times, beaten for pace by a snail
They can win hands down or abysmally fail
So maybe your team will be the tortoise
Or they’ll just come second like the hare!

Notes

For everyone who follows a smaller unfancied club, yet, like the tortoise ‘stick their neck out’ and back them each August to win the league. A season at Carrow Road can feel like hibernation, but you know, lately, our players have been coming out of their shells…
