Bristol City v York City

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 At the age of ten,
whilst on holiday in Bristol visiting relatives,
my dad took my Bristolian cousin and me
to watch my first football match:
Bristol City v York City.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 On the way there
my dad asked,
‘What do you think the score will be?’
My cousin said,
‘Ten nil to Bristol City.’
I said,
‘I don’t know.’

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The game began.
The Bristol City fans sang,
‘When the red red robins go bob bob bobbing along.’

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Half-time
we bought pies, which were rotten.
Second half
it rained.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 My dad said,
‘What you got to do in football is
take the ball into the box
and let them foul you for a penalty.’

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Final score:
Bristol City nil York City nil.
