Clik on tour (1) : Edison’s testimonial

Flying in, over Frankfurt’s suburbs
for a night time landing;
looming below
dark belts of blackness
split, by spidery patterns
a disentangled web
of sparkling beams;
and in amongst the twinkling stars
of street lights, brake lights, headlights
factory lights, neon lights
and household bulbs
… floodlit pitches
oasis of bright green land
in a groundswell of jet black oceans
darkness, that equates to god knows what :
forest, park, farm, field, empty offices?
but of course, my trained eye
is drawn to the venues down below
each one, a luminous testimony, to Edison’s genius
marking like flares
the palaces, where footballers
both Germanic and non-Teutonic
showcase their wares
