Day 26 : Hun won, we’re subdued

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Five – one
Now that was fun
To put it mildly
Oh, how we celebrated so wildly

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 But one – nil?
They sure know the drill
World Cup finalists once more
Oh, how it rocks us to the core

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 The Hun stun, and give us the creeps
So, while England weeps
And Korea blubs
Let’s examine, the use of subs

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 They got no joy
Out of Choi
But certainly it was all gung ho
When on Sung did go

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So, when Schneider
A wing provider
Made way for Jeremies
I just prayed … please …

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 If only…
And on came Lee
But did he answer my plea?
If only

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Then as Klose
Got closer
To the camera, I could only scoff
When on came Bierhoff

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Yet it was the team as a whole
Who worked for that all important goal
It certainly dug them out of a hole
And put paid to the team from Seoul

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 But right now, I’d swap five – one
For any score, to be in the Land of the Rising Sun
Mix in a dash of Teutonic efficiency, and a touch of karma
Anything, to transpose England, into Yokahama

Notes

For the record :

Semi Final

Germany beat South Korea 1 – 0

One of the best defenders of the tournament, Choi, had to go off injured, on came Sung, and within minutes Ballack had scored the winner for Germany.

But, how oh how, can a team lose 5-1 in qualifying, and still get to the World Cup final? And how come, the team that inflicted that beating, England, cannot make it? Plenty more years of hurt, I fear.
