He kicks the ball to Jamie, then runs over
to me.
‘Hey!’ he says; thumps my arm.
‘You gonna hang on?’
And, though I’m expected back,
it’s time for tea, and Mum will shout,
and slap the backs of my legs for being late,
I say: ‘Ok.’
‘Great.’
Then off he runs for his kick about
with Jamie Wilshire and Stephen Quinn.

over the witches hat roundabout,
starlings gather round on trees.
