End of the line for Harrogate Railway

It’s the end of the line for Harrogate Railway,
The train’s come off the track.
They lost out in a Holy Grail way,
Now there’s no way back.
But the sturdy coach
Took the right approach
With no passengers on board,
It’s the end of the line for Harrogate Railway,
But fame’s their just reward.

It’s the end of the line for Harrogate Railway,
Pride of the West Riding.
They lost out in a tooth and nail way,
Shunted into a siding.
The town was an ocean
Of loco motion,
Aspirations tender too.
It’s the end of the line for Harrogate Railway,
But we raise a glass to you.

It’s the end of the line for Harrogate Railway,
Their train has been derailed.
The luck ran out but not in a frail way,
Nobody thinks they’ve failed.
The engine of the team
Ran out of steam,
For Mansfield, jubilation.
It’s the end of the line for Harrogate Railway,
But they played above their station.
